Kean fajardo SINULOG FESTIVAL History Sinulog is a famous festival celebrated in Cebu City, Philippines. It started in 1980 to honor the Señor Santo Niño (Child Jesus). The festival is inspired by the Filipino people’s conversion to Christianity and their devotion to the Santo Niño. Timeline 1521 – Ferdinand Magellan gives the image of Santo Niño to Queen Juana 1565 – Miguel López de Legazpi finds the image in Cebu 1980 – First modern Sinulog Festival is held Present – Celebrated every third Sunday of January Religion Sinulog is a religious festival centered on the Santo Niño.
